Olivia S.

I help with: Disability-informed recovery supports and advocacy for adults with complex needs.

Olivia’s professional background is rooted in advocating and supporting adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD); who have dual and tri diagnose’s . She has worked in the disability sector  in Alberta since 2017 and currently holds two roles across distinct subspecialties within the field in psychiatric social work, Recovery and mental health. Her commitment to radical disability advocacy began long before her professional career. Shaped by her upbringing with family members with IDD. Well so witnessing her family’s dedication to equity, inclusion, and systemic change deeply influenced her values and continues to guide her work today.

Olivia brings this same advocacy forward in both her professional roles and in her academic journey as she pursues her Clinical Master of Social Work. For the past five years, she has worked alongside her program manager as part of a two‑person grassroots team to support the development and evolution of the Substance Use and Disability Support Program. Through their efforts, the initiative has grown into what is now known as Connect Recovery: Substance Use and Disability Support Team and Program, which Olivia now supervises. Connect Recovery provides community‑based, adapted recovery supports for adults with FASD and IDD across Calgary and Alberta, driven by the belief that everyone deserves accessible, equitable, and responsive recovery services that meet them where they are.

This commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and person‑centered support is also reflected in Olivia’s role as supervisor of the Adult & Elevated Support Team. Across all facets of her work, she remains dedicated to advancing meaningful, systemic change and ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive the advocacy and support they deserve.
